The Guide is finally ready!

During the past few months we have been creating a Methodological Guide, which is one of the primary outputs in this project, and required a tremendous amount of collaboration and work on behalf of the partner organisations. The objectives established for the guide during the planning process were:

  • To offer a practical guide with tools to strengthen sustainability and environmental awareness in young people, taking into account the good practices and tools used in the 4 project countries;
  • To provide youth workers with educational tools and practical exercises to facilitate their work in the fields of social entrepreneurship and environmental education;
  • To generate innovative pedagogical material on environmental education applied to youth entrepreneurship which can be extrapolated to other entities in Europe and the world.

Today, the Guide to Strengthen Environmental Education in Young people has finally been published, which you can find in the 5 project languages in our “results” tab on this website.

This guide is aimed at youth educators who want to acquire the necessary pedagogical tools to work in the fields of environmental education and social entrepreneurship. The document is available in different languages: English, Italian, Lithuanian, Norwegian and Spanish. This publication is the result of the collaboration between four different organizations: Iniciativa Internacional Joven (Spain), Asociacija Aktyvistai (Lithuania), Travelogue Associazione di Promozione Sociale (Italy), and TTB (Norway).

The guide is divided in seven different chapters. Each one of these chapters focuses on one specific topic related to environmental education.

The first chapter gives a brief definition of environmental education and introduces the main topics related to this discipline. It also acts as an introduction to some important terminology and includes some of the most important sustainable development regulations.

The second chapter highlights the existing types of waste, lists the main waste sorting and treatment processes, and establishes a connection between these issues and entrepreneurship.

The third chapter explains the historical evolution of energy sources. It also introduces the main types of energy sources and lists some of the applications that energy efficiency can have on entrepreneurship projects.

The fourth chapter highlights the importance of water for life and explains its cycle. It also includes a section that focuses on air and noise pollution and gives an explanation on why it is important for entrepreneurs to consider contamination.

The fifth chapter pivots around the problematic of climate change, examining its causes and effects.

The sixth chapter explores sustainability, taking into consideration its environmental, social, and economic aspects.

The seventh chapter acts as a bridge between the theoretical content of the guide and its implementation on formal and non-formal educational settings.
